Sri Lanka is all set to host the world’s largest all-female adventure challenge, Raid Amazones, from 20th to 28th March 2023. The third consecutive year of this international event is being held in collaboration with Conassiance De Ceylan as the main host, Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau as the destination partner, and Sri Lankan Airlines as the airline partner. The event will take place in Kandy and suburbs, covering a wide range of activities over 8 days, highlighting the iconic attractions of the destination.

The event welcomed a group of 250 female participants on 20th March 2023, who arrived in the island via Sri Lankan Airlines UL 564 around 5.15 am. The participants were warmly welcomed by SLTPB officials, including staff of the Tourist Information Centre, and officials of the SLTPB Events Division. They then proceeded to the Gampaha Railway Station to reach Kandy, where they will stay at the Earls Regency Kandy for the rest of their tour.

The event will take place in several stages, with the participants going through special medical checkups, training, and administration processes on the 21st and 22nd March. The event officially begins at 6.30 am on 22nd March with trail running from Hantana to Galaha, followed by a cricket lesson, cooking class, and archery in the afternoon. Thursday, 23rd March, will be reserved for canoeing in the Victoria Lake, near Bambaragala Purana Rajamaha Viharaya.

The participants will continue with the rest of the event on 24th March with an 18KM bike and run in Rideegama, followed by an escape game on 25th March in Kandy. On 26th March, they will take a mountain bike ride in Pinnawala, and a 10KM trail run will be held in Kadugannawa on 27th March, as the final activity of the event. On 28th March, participants will depart from Kandy to BIA Colombo, to be flown home via UL 563 00H35.

Hosting an internationally renowned event like this will bring prestige and international fame to Sri Lanka while highlighting both the unseen attractions and iconic locations of the country. This event showcases the magnificent travel opportunities Sri Lanka has to offer and helps take Sri Lanka to the world. The Raid Amazones originates from France where it is an all-female challenge, and the contest not only allows participants to put their skills to the test but also discover the unique landscape, people, and culture of the host country. The publicity given by this whole event will create more awareness among French travelers as well as the rest of the world, conveying the positive message that Sri Lanka is open for tourists to experience the uniqueness of this paradise island.
