Indian Fashion Week, organised by Indian Alliance , took centre stage at the Mahogany Room of the Cinnamon Grand Colombo, the main hospitality partner, on the evening of 14th March 2026. The entire hall was transformed into a dazzling spectacle of colour, exotic fashion and Indian tradition as it hosted the premier showcase of Indian Fashion Week 2026. Organized by the Indian Alliance in collaboration with the High Commission of India, the event serves as a cornerstone of the “India Week 2026” festival, a ten-day celebration designed to strengthen the cultural and commercial ties between India and Sri Lanka.

The runway featured an exceptional lineup of local talent, including Kamil Hewavitharana, Charini Suriyage, Rajitha Thennakoon, Indi Yapa Abeywardena, Thimani Rodrigo, Sammani Pathiranagama, and the iconic Eric Suriyasena. They balanced the intricate handlooms of Indian heritage craftsmanship with the sleek, experimental silhouettes of modern haute couture. Each segment was meticulously choreographed to reflect the theme of “Regional Unity,” highlighting the shared aesthetic histories of the two nations. The fashion showcase opened to an audience of special invitees, industry titans, fashion and beauty icons, including the Chief Guest, former Mrs World 1984, Rosy Senanayake.
Chief Organizer Geethika Weerakoon noted that the event transcends the boundaries of a typical fashion show. By integrating the runway with concurrent Investor and CEO Forums, the Indian Alliance has created a multi-dimensional platform where high-end design meets high-level commerce. The initiative aims to position Colombo as a pivotal hub for regional fashion trade, fostering direct connections between designers, textile manufacturers, and international buyers.

The evening was accompanied by vibrant dance performances, adding a touch of Bollywood glamour to the event. As the festival moves forward with scheduled events in Kandy and Jaffna, the success of the Fashion Week at Cinnamon Grand stands as a testament to the growing synergy within the South Asian creative economy. With its blend of luxury hospitality and artistic excellence, the event has set a new benchmark for cultural exchange in the region.
