The State Tourism Ministry of Sri Lanka and United Women’s Front will host the world’s first ‘Miss Tourism World’ grand finale for 2023 with the participation of 40 Countries. The event will be held from July 20 to 31 in a number of tourist cities in Sri Lanka including Negombo, Nuwara Eliya, Ella, Yala and Kandy.

Addressing the official press conference at Cinnamon Grand Hotel with State Minister of Tourism, Diana Gamage as the Chief Guest and with the participation of large gathering from the industry said that the event will offer unprecedented destination marketing value to Sri Lanka.
“This initiative will assist in promoting tourism in Sri Lanka with 40 countries. Some have not seen any kind of Sri Lanka tourism promotions in their countries.”
State Minister of Tourism, Gamage also added that it will bring much needed dollars to the country as over 500 participants are expected.
Responding to a query from the media , she said, “The specialty here is there is no prize money for the winning contestants and they pay their own air-fare as a support for our country at this difficult time. However, we will be providing them with star-class accommodation, Sri Lankan gastronomical delights and all visits to tourism locations and other necessary facilities for free. It is encouraging to see that there are people out there with so much goodwill to support Sri Lanka in its Tourism marketing without expecting any remuneration.”
“One of the main objectives of this global event is to clear the negative publicity still going on around the world about Sri Lanka as the winners from 40 countries will witness the actual current situation about Sri Lanka by travelling around the country” said Dr. Arosha Fernando, Private Secretary to the State Minister of Tourism.
