Colombo: Levan Dzhagaryan stated that the absence of concrete investment projects in Sri Lanka is the main reason why Russia has not proceeded with government-level investments.
Responding to a journalist’s question at a press conference in Colombo, the Ambassador made it clear that without clearly identified and structured projects, investment cannot move forward.
“Where to invest? We’re ready to invest, but no projects.”
He further observed that some ambassadors have expressed concerns about the overall investment atmosphere in Sri Lanka, indicating that the business environment remains challenging.
While noting that private sector entities may independently explore opportunities, he underlined that government-level investments depend on the availability of well-prepared and feasible projects.
The remarks highlight a critical gap in Sri Lanka’s investment framework — the need to present clear, bankable projects to attract foreign investors.
