Manager Marketing Dushan Wickramasuriya proudly announced that a record-breaking 76 companies from Sri Lanka took part in the 43rd edition of the World Tourism Market, signaling an unprecedented level of interest and enthusiasm for tourism among Sri Lankan businesses. He emphasized the significance of the UK market, with UK arrivals currently ranking third and constituting 10% of the total arrivals in Sri Lanka. Wickramasuriya highlighted the event’s importance as a platform to showcase Sri Lanka to European visitors.

During the opening ceremony, special guest Duchess of Rutland Emma Manners expressed her preference for Sri Lanka as a destination. She commended the warm and welcoming nature of the country’s people, considering them a valuable asset to tourism. Manners also noted the country’s reputation as a safe travel destination. The three-day annual WTM event, where these sentiments were shared, concludes today.
