Colombo, Sri Lanka – On March 21st, eighteen mainstream travel influencers and journalists from key and emerging source markets arrived in Sri Lanka for a 10-day destination promotional press trip series. The purpose of their visit was to promote Sri Lanka as the ideal tropical holidaymaker for 2023.

The Visiting Journalist & Blogger Program 2023 (VJP/VBP- 2023) was organized by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, and it brought together 18 travel influencers from around the globe, including the UK, Australia, France, Italy, Netherlands, USA, Spain, Russia, India, and Indonesia. Collectively, they have a global digital travel audience of over 5.5 million, making this media delegation a significant promotional force for Sri Lanka’s tourism industry.

During their visit, the influencers will explore both popular and emerging tourism regions in the island, including Colombo, Seethawaka, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Ella, Udawalawe, Yala, and the Southern Coastal Belt. This will allow them to experience the diverse culture, heritage, and nature that Sri Lanka has to offer.

The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau collaborated with several tourism industry stakeholders, including Mount Lavinia Hotel, Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts, Sheraton Kosgoda Turtle Beach Resort, Walkers Tours Sri Lanka, and Ebert Silva Holidays, to make this national tourism industry promotional initiative a success.

This initiative is expected to boost Sri Lanka’s tourism industry, which has been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. By promoting Sri Lanka as the ideal tropical holidaymaker for 2023, the influencers and journalists will inspire travelers from around the world to visit this beautiful island nation.
