Sri Lankan music sensation Yohani has taken to Facebook to announce that her debut album, Kella, has been officially submitted for consideration in the Best Global Music Album category at the prestigious 67th Annual Grammy Awards. This marks a historic moment for both Yohani and Sri Lanka, as the island’s music steps onto the global stage.

In her heartfelt Facebook message, Yohani shared, “This one is for Sri Lanka, for our stories, our sounds, and for everyone who believed in the dream of taking Sri Lankan music from home to the world.” She expressed her immense gratitude for the support she has received throughout her journey and dedicated this achievement to every artist and dreamer from her homeland.
Yohani emphasized that Kella is deeply rooted in Sri Lankan traditions, yet infused with modern global sounds. “Every beat, every lyric is a reflection of my home and heart,” she wrote, acknowledging the talented team that helped bring the album to life. Her collaborators include producers Pasan Liyanage, Shenal Maddumage, Hibshi, and Lahiru Perera, along with lyricists Dilanjan Seneviratne and Asiri Perera. The album was produced under the label Outright Play with the guidance of creative producer Dilanjan Seneviratne and publicist Dilshan Senaratne.
Yohani concluded her message with a call to continue the journey of elevating Sri Lankan music on the world stage, saying, “Let’s continue this journey together, taking Sri Lankan music to places it’s never been before.”
